I built a Catio (cat run) from 10 of these packs. That's 170 pieces. I've had enough connectors and I haven't broken any. I only used zip ties to reinforce the tightest joints (maybe 10%). Catio consists of 6x3x5 cubes plus a few extra tunnels. Inside is extensive shelving, all of which need vertical supports. The roof is solid because it is supported by a single horizontal rib (shown in the photo). The whole structure becomes more stable with each added corner (long straight walls or ceilings are unstable, but if you add crossbars or bends, very strong). In general I am satisfied with the results. disallow certain configurations. You can connect two planes (4 parts in a plane but only 2 in a perpendicular plane), in other words you can't go in all 6 directions from the connector (you are limited to 5 directions). If necessary, tie-down lashings in combination with connectors ensure sufficient rigidity.
