Review on OtterBox DEFENDER SCREENLESS Samsung Galaxy Cell Phones & Accessories and Cases, Holsters & Clips by Brandon Page

Feels like the best quality in cases, holsters and cases

8/20/17 Having recently bought my GS8 and I know I tend to drop nice things I've decided not to to save on a case for my device. S8 is relatively small. With the Defender case, the width of the phone increases by about half an inch. Even though I can't touch my thumb and middle finger together with the Defender case, it's still pretty grippy. If this rubber doesn't start to harden, I'll probably never drop my phone because the case is too big. It absolutely protects the phone, but the hard plastic case inside constantly takes the brunt of the damage. The clips are the weakest point on this unit and I believe they could have been made thicker to prevent breakage. The rubber on the body also has some issues. After wearing it for a while it starts to weaken. I was wondering if the rim would return to its original shape when placed in boiling water, but I haven't tested this. The corners of the soft rubber just don't sit in the grooves of the hard inner shell like they used to, which is frustrating. The dust covers for the audio jack and charging port are good, but a bit stiff. I've read that others have cut them off, but I don't think I'll need it because I can charge wirelessly through this case and most of my headphones are Bluetooth-enabled. I even have a Tetrax car magnet on the back of this case and wireless charging still works with the case. A lot of people complain about the Bixby button, but I cut the rubber on the inside of the case that presses the button and now I never accidentally press the Bixby button when I want to press the volume buttons. Overall I like my Otterbox Defender case. This protects my phone. It's awkward for what is it? no If you want solid protection, your phone will need to grow a bit to meet your needs. If you don't want to increase the width and height by half an inch, go for a slimmer case.
