Review on Koh-I-Noor 8 Ounce Pigment-Based Universal Drawing Ink in Black (30804.BLA) - High-Quality Ink for Artists and Crafters by Doris Tran

I've been using Koh-i-Noor Rapidograph pens for technical writing Paper since 1973. At larger point sizes (1 and up) I don't see much of a difference between Koh-I-Noor and other ink brands I've tried (Pelikan, Staedtler, Higgins, etc.). .) But when I use thinner nibs (00 to 4x0) I found this ink to be the best. It stays dark black (not washed out grey) and flows nicely. I have been using 3060 and 3080 inks for over three decades and see no reason to use anything else in my application. Hence the five star rating. However, the delivery of this Revain product was another story. The bottle was simply placed in a bubble-lined paper envelope and shipped. When the envelope arrived it looked normal on the outside so I opened it up and the still liquid ink spilled onto my hands and onto the floor. I'm in the Denver area (over 5,000 feet above sea level) and the original warehouse must have been at a lower elevation because (you guessed it!) the pressure drop pushed about a teaspoon of ink through a thread in the lid (which was dense) both throughout the bottle and inside the envelope. Luckily there was no spilled liquid in the envelope and no ink leaked during transit. If this happened and the permanent ink spilled onto other mail in transit, I'd bet the post office would be pissed enough to chat with Revane. Postal regulations dictate that liquids sent through the post must have a separate sealed bag to contain the contents in case of a leak. Revain didn't pull this off - no inner pouch, just a free bottle that takes care of itself until it erupts in my living room. Please note again this will be dispatched from Revain's warehouse and not the retailer listed. I contacted them to let them know and although they were very nice, polite and understanding they couldn't help as they didn't pack the package. They've been at it a long time so they know postal regulations and pack accordingly to ensure something like this doesn't happen. So if you purchase this product and it is packaged with Revain, open the package carefully. Bathroom sink :-)
