It is absolutely necessary to retrofit the front or rear turn signal.

I installed them on my 2013 Tacoma rear turn signals with no problem. There is no hyperflashing at all. I even put them in my front turn signal to see if they would work with my DRL turn signal. They also work without Hyperflare. I would probably say the brightness is three times brighter than a standard halogen turn signal, if not more. I can't say anything about the durability yet, as the installation apparently only took about 5 minutes. I will definitely come back and edit if I run into any problems in the future.
