Waterproof for ONLY 6 months - Corrosion when using the boat trailer in salt water

They have been on my trailer for about 9 months. For the last 3 months I had one light working here and then another one there. I use my boat trailer about twice a month. I'm really digging these little lights. They look great, are pleasant to use and easy to work with. They look solid as you can see the epoxy is poured into the back where the wires are. It seemed convincingly waterproof to me. However, somehow the salt water got into the LED lights themselves and they stopped working. If you pull hard on the wires you can pull the epoxy and LEDs out of the colored case. However, be careful! I got cut quite deep from the sharp corners of the epoxy. Hence the patch. Sometimes they don't pop out and you just have to pull, break, or strip the wires. After separating the blocks, I found that the LEDs themselves are not protected by any coating. My possible solution: I stripped the epoxy and LEDs out of the cases on some new (non-corroded) ones and then covered the electronics with fresh epoxy and then reinstalled. Let's see if that works. In the photo you can see the inside of these lights. You'll see pristine, perfect light, and you'll see some rusty ones. I need to replace 8 on my trailer with my possible solution. I will do it this weekend. I broke about 10 new lights trying to remove the casings so I could access the lights to cover them in epoxy. EDIT: A year has passed. That little trick worked for me. Since then the headlights have worked perfectly.
