I had an old plastic double action (inflates air when compressed and expanded) that worked great until my little one picked it up. Wanted a replacement and tried this one. I like the pressure gauge and the pressure relief valve that lets you see the PSI when deflating, but I still end up checking the basketball's bounce before removing the pump. The only major downside is that taking it apart and putting it away is a pain compared to what I've done before (I just threw a plastic pump in a gym bag). First world problems, amirite?
