I ordered two gray ones. The velor side is very soft and the other side offers excellent padding and will appeal to pets that like to sleep on sheepskin. My cat happily hangs onto it and sleeps on it - alone on the storage bench at the end of my bed, next to the heater, and has slept on it a lot since the heat started! I've even seen him knead the dough, which he only does with good thick fleece/velour, so he definitely approves. (Although, of course, half the time he sleeps right next to whoever's on the couch, not on it because he's a cat.) They definitely help remove cat hair, scratching posts, and furniture debris. More than big enough for my large cat - a medium sized dog would have plenty of room and big enough for a human to use as a lap blanket - but still small enough for an easy wash.
