Review on πŸ”Œ Portta VGA + 3.5mm Audio to HDMI Mini Converter - Uncompressed 2 Channel Support - White by Jose Mcdaniel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

VGA to HDMI conversion method.

This unit works for me and is a good replacement for my previous VGA to HDMI box. I use this device to display my work laptop on my home monitor when working remotely as the monitor only has HDMI and DVI inputs. Since I sometimes work a lot at home, I often use it every day. In terms of performance, the image quality seems pretty good, but I'm having trouble connecting the device to my laptop for the first time. Usually when I plug it in and plug the VGA cable into my laptop, my monitor doesn't recognize the signal. When starting up, you usually need to quickly unplug the power cord from the converter box or one of the video cables. However, when passing the signal, I have no interruptions. I think this is a problem with the converter as my previous converter didn't have this problem when working. After a bit of a slow start, I'll give it 4 stars out of 5 as it's a bit of a drag. The device is fairly compact which is nice but there is no power adapter included which is another reason for 4 stars out of 5. Any USB adapter will do and is a much better alternative for always being plugged into a computer or hub. My laptop actually logged a USB power warning when I plugged it in, so I'm guessing the current draw must be a bit higher,

Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
