My wife usually uses a scale. As a rule, she wants him to be able to give pounds and ounces right away, but I understand that he most likely cannot. If she wants to know how much milk a child has drunk, she simply weighs it in kilograms and converts it to ounces. Also, the scale seems to take some time to calculate the weight (probably because my baby is constantly moving), which hurts when the baby cries. But overall, the scales do what they're supposed to and look high quality.
