Magic Disintegrating Socks

I dreamed of simple, soft, cushioning socks that I wouldn't even notice. I wanted the sock to exist ungratefully. I wanted a sock that would give me everything it had to give. When we first wore shoes together, the sock seemed to fulfill my desires. But every time I took off a sock, I noticed more and more fluff and fibers falling to the floor or becoming a wet jam between my toes. That's when I realized that I had fulfilled my wish: the sock gave way until there were no more fibers in it. He lived 3 short days before I stopped noticing him. Because he broke up. So I tried another pair from the pack. And another. And they all went their brother's way, each wear slowly killing him until the third wear, when he too crumbled into a pile of soggy cotton balls. These socks are not made to walk this earth with me. They were made for the landfill.
