Sturdy enough. They came with the batteries already installed as well as a set of spare batteries which is nice. We used them as stuffing for stockings and everyone could figure out how to put them on, although there were no instructions. The light shone bright - should help in situations where you are in the dark and need both hands. There were three pairs of gloves but only two screwdrivers, which is good if you're only buying them for one person. We broke the machine and gave one each to three different people. Luckily I had a few extra screwdrivers of the same size from other products I've bought over the years.
