Great for cats that need a horizontal scratching post. It took my cats a few days to get used to the scratching posts. I found I had to buy several of these, one for each of my cats, as my cat would push my smaller cat away every time she tried to use him. I sprayed catnip on both pads, I had to get them used to it. I got this because one of my cats was playing with my rug and someone suggested she might need a horizontal scratching area instead of a vertical one. It took about a week and a half for my cats to fully adjust to the switch.
