We live in Texas and love real butter, but here the butter needs to be refrigerated or it will melt. So we had to live with margarine until I found this French butter preserver. The water keeps the oil fresh and at the ideal spread temperature without the need for refrigeration. I love that it comes in 3 pieces so you can wash each piece separately if needed. My only issue is that it only holds 1 packet of oil and I have not found a French style oil container that holds more. Those who prefer butter to margarine will love this keeper.
