Bought for 2.5 years for the Monster Truck Show

My son is currently into monster trucks and when I heard there was a monster truck show in town I knew we had to go. So began my search for the perfect headphones for him. I resigned myself to the fact that it would be difficult to keep them on, as a previous attempt at wearing headphones during an air show was a complete failure. I started with the cheaper options thinking this item would be used infrequently. Mom's guilt eased and I started adding more expensive and "better" options to my shopping cart. Then I discovered the ones that have a very cute design. and were super expensive too. Somehow down the rabbit hole of kids headphones I stumbled upon this brand. I liked the aesthetic of the kids earmuffs but was concerned they would be too small for my big headed son. Then I found this: headphones/earphones. I liked the ability to use them as headphones as it would expand their use beyond monster trucks and air shows. I also thought introducing them before the monster truck show would be more successful as he could get used to it while watching the show on the iPad. Admittedly, I was initially skeptical that these were wired headphones and not Bluetooth, but since he would only use them under supervision, I dismissed that. I also purchased size bands due to the recommended age range for this item. When I received the headphones, I was immediately impressed. The product was not only well packaged but also superbly presented. It doesn't matter to most, but to me it shows that the company cares about their product as much as they care about the customer/user experience. One of the first things that struck me when I took the headphones out of the box was the quality of the materials used in their construction. The padding on the top of the earbuds is quite soft, and the ear cushioning is sufficient for sustained use. The plastic feels thick and durable, which hopefully means it can take a drop or five since my toddler will be using them. The instructions were clear and simple and I was able to install the batteries quickly and easily. I put it on my head and tested the different modes - talk mode cut out background noise, boosted things like the TV and someone speaking. To be honest, the sound wasn't that great. The amplified audio had a strange echo and things sounded strange. The volume rocker worked perfectly. The "passive" mode simply disables the talk mode, so everything is muted. He did an excellent job of blocking out noise. Headphone mode was great! The above volume switch does not work in headphone mode. Instead, you control the volume on your device. I do not mind. The real test: put it on my son. I have to say that the size of these headphones was a bit smaller than I expected, but not in a negative way. Somehow I figured they would be more responsive to my son because of the supposed age. They fit his head perfectly so the growth band package I bought separately is returned. Despite being smaller than I imagined, they fit my large head surprisingly well on the highest settings, so I was able to test them out. He loves his headphones! He watched Blippy's episodes without trying to follow through. When I switched to talk mode, he gave me a puzzled look and tried to tear it off. I don't blame him. After all, they only worked great in passive mode on monster truck shows. We'll probably take the batteries out and just use them for mute and headphones as I can't think of any reason why a boosted talk mode would be needed. I'm very glad I chose them over other earmuffs offered by Revain. They are not only used where headphones are required as hearing protection.
