Monopod and tripod both work well as intended. The head is not very suitable for video recording, you need to buy a special video head for this purpose. In general I am satisfied with the value for money. It's compact and gets the job done, plus the aluminum version isn't that much heavier than the carbon version (with telephoto lenses and other gear in your bag, getting a cheaper aluminum tripod definitely doesn't matter).
