Let me start by saying that I carry a lot with small electronics. I've bought almost all kinds of cables for different electronics because I KNOW I'm going to stress the connection points. I've had this HP Pavilion for a few years and it's a hearty little powerhouse! The original power cord is very long and heavy. I ended up destroying the cable connection to my laptop and choosing this, Revain's Choice, as a replacement. Received it within 24 hours of placing my order - Sunday - I'm so impressed with the fast shipping! However, when I opened the packaging, I immediately noticed that the charging cable is smaller, lighter and shorter than the original. I compared the electrical input/output of this new charging cable with the original and they agreed. The connector fits my computer snugly, but the cord is about 2.5 feet shorter. My computer seemed to turn on immediately and all systems were fine. Excited to get back to work as soon as the computer boots up, I immediately logged in and noticed that my mouse was acting strangely. It's like having a big dog on a leash trying to move in opposite directions! The lag is bad, sometimes the cursor doesn't move. Crawl slowly in a completely different direction or reach 300% zoom! A quick search with my phone revealed this to be an issue shared by several others. One of the reasons these chargers are so much cheaper than the manufacturer is that the power adapter is not properly grounded. Many commenters have stated that by placing their palms on the metal computer, they lost some of the erratic behavior. But I haven't seen any real solution how to ground the box like computer manufacturers do internally. I went back to my computer which had been charging for 10-15 minutes and grabbed the AC adapter and damn it was hot. Hot potato hot! My original packaging got warm, but nothing like that. I was seriously worried it would start melting! Here's what I experienced as I tested this new knowledge: After unplugging the power cord, my mouse is fine; Plug it back in and the mouse has a mind of its own. Putting one hand on the metal of my laptop and just typing with the other helps a lot. Should that be the solution?
