Even in light rain or when walking in standing water no deeper than 1/4 inch, water seeps into the shoes significantly. Although this shoe is not listed as waterproof, the shoe can be assumed to be waterproof. The construction of the shoe is referred to as a "storm frame". What does the latter imply or mean? Merrell's customer service department insisted that shoes specifically labeled "waterproof" should be purchased to keep moisture out. I have bought many shoes in different materials in terms of uppers and soles and have never experienced moisture in the shoes after walking on a wet lawn, in light rain or through small puddles of water. This is the first time I have bought Merrells and I am very disappointed. I bought 3 pairs of different styles at the same time and honestly wish I could return them, but that's not a return/exchange date.
