Personal Protective Equipment Quality Defects

I needed a full face respirator to clean mold on my underground. I use RMR-86 which is basically a powerful bleach. Since I only needed it for this one project, I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on this mask. It had pretty good reviews and I also saw it on a big store's website so I bought it. For my needs it was less than fine. My face is protected from dangerous chemicals, but only partially prevents me from inhaling them. My head is quite small so I don't know if this affects my negative experience but I doubt it as I can tighten it enough to fit snugly. My main issue is that the straps loosen on their own over time. I started smelling the bleach and my eyes started to sting a little. At this point I felt the straps and at least one of them came loose. Although it was uncomfortable for me, the smell wasn't as unpleasant as if I wasn't wearing a mask at all. As soon as I re-tightened the straps, the fumes evaporate again and I was fine. However, the more I wear it, the more it seems to happen. This can be more dangerous if someone is dealing with even worse chemicals or is even more sensitive to bleach. The second problem I have is that one of the cartridges doesn't turn on very easily. It's as if the prongs holding it in place are slightly misaligned. I'm afraid of breaking it when I try to put a new cartridge in. This also initially caused a problem as I thought I had put it on correctly but only two of the three pins were blocked. It still worked well and filtered the air so I didn't realize it was poorly attached. . I was in the back of my crawl space and he came out. I struggled to reattach it and gasped trying to hold onto it while attempting to reattach the cartridge. I ended up having to close the hole with one hand and crawl out of the basement to reattach it. It still took me a few minutes to put it back on. Eventually the nose pinched, leaving a blister on the bridge of the nose. Not sure if this is the result of my tiny head and how much I had to tighten it to seal my face. Overall my experience wasn't fantastic but the cost was where I needed it. If I was looking for something for long term use or for some reason I couldn't avoid toxicity I wouldn't buy this mask. It comes with a guarantee which I haven't used but as with most guarantees there seems to be a lot of loopholes that are unlikely to pay off.
