First of all it looks pretty cool when assembled. Now for the negatives. This item should be in a left/right configuration so if you have two of these on a wall you can mirror each other - that would be very easy. This bookshelf is VERY small, good for novels and small books, but its depth and shelf height limit is ridiculously small compared to almost any other bookshelf, most books won't fit in it. The magazines don't fit. Ribbons or spirals are not suitable. The extra piece of overlay wood (the top layer) is completely unnecessary and annoying, but since this product is definitely not wood, it can't be cut off without ruining the whole thing. If you are mounting this to anything other than wood floors I would recommend using an anchor, but the anchor provided is not large enough if you have plain paneling on your wall.
