This is basically a bookshelf. Where the phone snaps into the case. It adds volume but keeps things relatively thin for its style. Aside from that this case has a very nice clear hard plastic cover on the front. This allows you to always see the display while it is closed. And offers a very pleasing, somewhat reflective look when sitting closed on a table. I already had some comments and compliments on this case. Whether on the desk, in my pocket or just carrying around, it offers me sufficient protection. My biggest complaint is that he really needs to get a better grip on the phone. If you drop it at the right angle or high enough, there's a chance the phone will pop out. Luckily I never drop phones. But if you do, you should test it to make sure it meets your needs. It has a stand function that allows you to watch movies and the like. Unfortunately, it's too vertical for my preferences. It really should be angled more upwards. And it was probably just a hull design limitation. At least there are handy magnets to keep it from rocking like other, smaller cases. The day I received this case, Samsung updated their Always On Display app to work with their own case. I have no idea why it took so long. But now it works. So when you close the case you can see the time/notifications through the transparent case. There is a visible circle in the bottom left corner of the lid that is causing this. I wish it was better hidden, but this is a clear case, another design compromise. Overall it's perfect for me and what I'm looking for. If you need more protection, there are other, less trendy options.
