There were instructions on how to use the control buttons, but there was no information on the different earbuds or how to put overlays on them, which would be helpful. I'm about to bring them back because of the main button that controls pretty much all song navigation functions not doing everything it should and the fact that it didn't pause my iPod during playback (which is one of the claimed functions is) was a particular problem. I don't know if my headphones were defective or if it's a common problem between these headphones and an older iPod shuffle model, but I'll buy something else. My Beats by Dre works great with my iPod, so I know it's not an iPod. Also, they didn't fit my ears well with neither option enabled. I liked the clip for attaching the headphone cord to a shirt.
