The air filter on the 327 in my Camaro '69 doesn't match the round hole in the hood. This moves the filter forward enough to use a 4-5 inch filter. What makes this better than other staggered bases is that they rolled the metal into the opening where the carb and base meet. Most others have a sharp edge that cuts through the gasket and cuts into the carburetor's aluminum mating surface. This works better and is worth the small extra charge.
