We have an over-the-stove microwave with two bulbs. I replaced the original incandescent bulbs with 5W 6000K LEDs. This color temperature is too bluish for my taste. Very bright, the dimmer works and it's still bright. Too bright for a night light but great to see what you're doing on the stove. After 5 months one of the lamps burned out. Well basically. The blown bulb still had one of the 21 LEDs on. But it wasn't enough to light his side of the stove. Since these bulbs came in packs of six, I swapped out the bulb. When I took out the failed bulb, the plastic casing melted, indicating it was hot enough to melt. The backflow (with swelling) was local to each LED such that the backflow occurred over 90% of the bulb surface. Since previous bulbs were incandescent, the original wattage was much higher than this, so I don't expect this bulb to get too hot for its enclosed space. Let's see if the short life repeats itself again or if it was a rare lamp that developed the problem.
