I put this in my boat; Let's hope the watertight claims are true. The display is nice and bright, no power is consumed when the ignition is off: the clock runs on an internal battery (replaceable) and the display only turns on when the ignition is on. console and it was very difficult. The watch has a VERY small bezel around its circumference - about 1mm - so your rectangular hole needs to be accurate. I cut through 3/16" aluminum backed by 1" marine plywood so it took about three hours to cut, file and sand the hole. the wires are very, very thin - maybe 24 gauge?), then follow the prompts to set the time.
