Review on Corsair Nightsword RGB Gaming Mouse – Ergonomic, Tunable, 18000 DPI, Backlit RGB LED, Black by Todd Markel

This mouse is one of the most expensive gaming mice on the market. You buy something like this (as opposed to a regular old mouse) when you need extra buttons on a mouse over a simpler one and want more control over exactly what your mouse is doing. While this mouse is plug-n-play, you can (and should) download software that connects to it to customize it to your needs. These include changing the button functions, changing the lighting (or removing it entirely if you prefer), and changing the sensitivity. I recently tried two of the best gaming mice, the Razer Naga Trinity and the Corsair Nightsword. I got the Naga Trinity first and would have stuck with it but had some issues with the double click when it first came out. Sometimes when I tried to click something or select text it would make an extra click or not click at all, which was very frustrating. I had no choice but to replace it or try a different mouse and I chose the latter. Before I continue, please note that I have fairly large hands (8.25 inches from the tip of my middle finger to the crease of my wrist, 4 inches). across the widest part of my palm (across the knuckles) and almost 10 inches from the tip of my thumb to the tip of my pinky finger when my arms are wide open, like trying to grab a basketball with my palm) and I use a fingertip grip (see photos) on my mouse - your own hand size and grip style will determine if each of these mice is right for you. Here's what I like and dislike about each, with a score ranging from -3 to +3 next to each score, indicating how much I like or dislike each feature (-3 - don't like at all, +3 - like I really): Corsair Nightsword: A [+3] It has two extra buttons to press on the top (offers more top button options for gaming, Razer only has extra side buttons) B. [+1] It has more thumb protection (although my thumb doesn't really stick to the carpet) feels comfortable without it) C. [+1] The DPI level can be seen on the side of the mouse (as opposed to normal, which I think is in the top middle of the mouse that you can't see when your hand is there) and the mouse changes color when you press it to make the change even more obviousD. [+0.5] Looks aesthetically better than the Razer Naga in my opinion. [-1] The middle mouse wheel takes a little more force than I want to click on itF. [-3] (Destroyer for me) I can only reach 1 of the 3 side buttons with normal grip even though I have big hands. I need to turn it into a palm, which isn't very desirable as it's less accurate when clicking. Razer Naga Trinity:A. [+3] Resizable sidebars allow customization of the buttons as desired, although I feel the 12 button grid is a bit redundant and wish there was an option for a 6 button grid. [+3] The mouse wheel can be easily tilted to the left or right, and they can be configured as additional C keys. [-3] The double-click/false-click issue described above. Strangely it happens much less often now for some reason I don't understand, but if it happens again I'll have to replace the mouse. Note. My particular mouse might just be faulty, but other reviewers have said this is an issue for them too, so it's obvious there's some sort of quality control issue. For me the 12 button sidebar is great because I use mice of course, my thumb is right in the middle of all the buttons which makes them accessible when needed (although pressing the middle buttons is a little harder, at least I can reach them, then how my partner with smaller hands can't push all the buttons even if she wanted to). I'll probably stick with the Razer Naga trio (and re-order a new one if the pressing issues persist) simply because the side buttons are hard for me to reach with the Corsair Nightsword, but I hope I've provided enough detail that you can choose a more balanced solution for yourself. :)
