Review on πŸ“‘ Enhance Your XM Radio Reception with the Terk Audiovox XM6 Outdoor Home Antenna by Timothy Castillo

Great product, a few notes on installation.

I hope my learning experience will help you avoid the problems I had. Bought this antenna to bring my Audiovox onyX XM radio home from the car. Used the Audiovox Xpress Universal Home Kit and encountered a few obstacles to consider when planning the installation. First, use RG-6 cable, not RG-59 cable that is used for regular cable TV installations. Next, you will most likely need a line repeater for any distance over 50 feet. I used the Terk XMAMP18 which is designed to boost the onboard RG-6 Terk XMAMP18 amplifier for the XM XM6 Home Antenna satellite radio up to 100 feet. Well, after talking to the XM-enabled phone for an hour and calling Audiovox for compatibility, I was asked to reduce my mileage to 75ft (the unit didn't pick up a signal). Went like clockwork. Looking at the XMAMP18's packaging you might be tempted to put the amp at the end of the run and I suspect a 100 foot run would work with the amp placed somewhere in the middle. Finally, if you don't have the skills and equipment to make an RG-6 patch cord, you can purchase an RF female-to-female adapter to connect the amplifier to the SMB connector used with an antenna supplied, which plugs into the back of the amplifier - the home adapter. . The GOOD NEWS is this is a great antenna, I've become an XM junkie and am listening to crystal clear non commercial music as I write this review. Much luck!
