Review on Magnificent Mementos: Missing You Keepsake Collection by Everett Makori

Does not meet Coben standards

I'm a keen Coben fan and was really excited to see his latest release. However, I was very disappointed. I found the plot completely unbelievable and some parts were so gory that I had to skip them. It felt like someone else wrote this book. WARNING, SPOILERS! It's very hard to believe that so many people would agree to just going to another country over the internet with someone they've never met in person. Wouldn't you like to meet first in a cafe or for dinner? Or do you google them to learn more about them? And couldn't the police find out whether their passports were being used? And it didn't make sense that her old friend was in hiding because he'd killed someone in self-defense. And how he even lived offline - without a job, without credit cards, without a bank account. It also made no sense that Cat's father was trying to kill her gay friend. It says he doesn't love him, but kill him? And then try to kill her fiancé? It was one after the other. I should have only given 2 stars but it was well written and the beginning was intriguing.
