I recently accepted a recommended replacement for these as they were out of stock at my regular supplier. NEVER AGAIN! yes they cost more Yes, you need to be sure you have the right ones for your filter device. Ignore the bad reviews from people who are mad because THEY didn't read the manual/device/old cartridges and bought the wrong one. If these are the right cartridges for your device, there is nothing better you can do than use them. Are there cheaper alternatives from other manufacturers that should be acceptable alternatives? Yes, but personally I wouldn't risk trying them as there is a risk they will explode and get water everywhere, or if you're lucky they just won't work as they're supposed to. It's worth the brand price. to ensure they work as intended. No trouble. No mess. Just good water.
