Discussions I found on the forums mentioned an issue with the included windshield. Since this is a condenser microphone, it must be phantom powered. Like condenser microphones, it is extremely sensitive. When using it as a portable device, it is imperative that you use a windscreen as it is so sensitive that it picks up every pop and breath sound. I put on a windscreen but immediately noticed that it muffles the microphone. Upon examining it, I found that it had an inner layer of felt-like material behind the foam. I grabbed a pair of pliers and pulled it out. That solved the problem! Once that layer was gone, the windshield did its job without being overly muffled. With this modification. IMPRESSIVE! I did an A/B comparison and couldn't believe the difference I heard. So I called my wife at the studio to get her opinion. She had the same wow factor as me. This $55 mic (2-pack is about $110) made the $200 dynamic mic I used, as well as other mics I have, sound like crap in comparison. So sensual, so clear, incredibly rich!
