I bought them specifically for the metal ends. .
I bought these extra because of the metal ends. I was hoping that since the cable was braided and the ends were metal, normal stress and wear and tear wouldn't cause the wires to bend or strip. Unfortunately, the shroud around the connector is separate and doesn't protect it in any way, as I have now found out. If I had to do it all over again I would choose a simpler and cheaper cable.
