Charging works fine if you plug it into a QC3 car socket However, I wish I had chosen one that had a purely mechanical (non-electrical) phone clip -Method used: 1) If you forget to pick up your phone before turning off the car, you can't pick it up without flipping the switch. Switch ignition back on.2) Clamps close too quickly after opening. Difficult to put the phone back in place before the clips close. This can be achieved with training, but who would want that if they waited another 1/2 second everything would be fine? This, combined with what appears to be a cooldown timer to prevent rapid consecutive sensor triggers, forces you to resort to the buttons to aim the phone (quickly, because the clips close again quickly). 3) When you don't have your phone in it and you're driving - because in my case it's mounted in the air vent next to the steering wheel - the IR sensor sees your hands when you turn the steering wheel and causes the clips to open and close. So he does what he has to do. I just wish I could use one of the gravity lock styles instead of the fancy sensor with motorized clamps.
