Finding a copy of the software wasn't easy; There are many versions with very similar user interfaces and requirements. I *couldn't* insert the CD that came with it. It appears to be an updated version of a semi-common design; The more common design requires a separate micro USB cable for fan programming. The fan VID/PID I got is 0x0c45 0x7160 - I couldn't find anything more specific. The device presents itself as an HID, so no drivers are required to interact with it. I couldn't find any open source/advanced programmers; none of them allowed me to create multicolored posts (or set a color at all). The fan cannot be programmed while it's on - the various programmers I've found would all silently fail (even if the fan was detected); It needs to be powered off, programmed a few times (if the programming works, a green LED on the fan will flash) and then powered back on. This process is pretty slow. I was hoping to build something to show incoming messages/email counter/time - no luck. After all, it doesn't bother the air much.
