A bit hard and possibly dry as the back is easy to scratch with a fingernail. Stamped whole grain and USA and that means something. It is comfortable to wear and the buckle is removed by unzipping. I wear size 34-36 pants and when you buy a belt you usually buy a size up but I was concerned and bought a size 34-36 belt and I can attach it with four holes so it goes with the pants fits. Reminds me of Han Solo's belt if you remove a prong from the buckle or find a two prong black or metal buckle to replace it. It's not the most elastic skin but will soften after 2-3 days. I find that if you wear it regularly it should start to flatter your figure well.
