Exactly what I was looking for!

Purchased to replace the dome light in my Toyota Prius. The light bulb there heated the lens so much that you could burn your fingers after a few minutes. This was a problem as I like to leave the lights on so my 18 month old can look at his books on the way home. At first I thought I needed to do something or at least use 2 LED bulbs to get equivalent light output. I was wrong on both counts. First, the light output of one of these lamps is approximately 90% of the light output of the lamp it replaces. The lamp fills the entire interior of the car with sufficient reading light. So I only needed one. If we're lucky; My wife's Honda CRV uses the same bulb for her overhead light and I replaced it as well. I was skeptical as she has a bigger salon, but she works great there too. I highly recommend these lamps. Pros: excellent light output, better color temperature (white vs. yellow) and much less heat (cool to the touch). The light output/color is so good that I decided to replace all other bulbs in the car. Cons: The LED bulb is slightly longer than the bulb it replaced, so it was a bit of a hassle getting it into the spring clips. This hasn't been a problem on any of my computers, but it can be a problem on some. (see photos). UPDATE 11/30/12: I also ordered: NEEWERยฎ T10 36 SMD LED Light Festoon Dome Bulb Lamp White 12V thinking it would provide more light. I was right, it's about four times the light, but it gave off too much heat for the small area I installed it in (making the dome light lens feel hot). When uninstalling and before reinstalling this LED bulb, I did some testing with my desktop power supply. I measured the current draw for three bulbs at 9 and 12 volts. This should give you a pretty good idea of the wattage required (and the heat produced) for each of the bulbs. 12 LEDs: @9V=0.09W & @12V=0.96W 36 LEDs: @9V=0.45W & @12V=3.0W Light source: @9V=4.7W and @12V = 7.3W
