Wall mount is near perfect - better mounting hardware needed!

This is for a dual monitor wall mount. I have 27" and 24" monitors and have been using the mount for about 2 months. After some trial and error, I enjoy my workplace a lot more! As this review is long I included TL; DR I thought a comprehensive review would be helpful for anyone wanting a wall mount as there really aren't many detailed reviews for this particular model. Hope this helps someone! ************************************************** **** ***** ** ********************* TL;DR *************** ** ***** ******************************************** ****** ******* This mount is amazing! Just be sure to purchase the correct mounting anchors (I used 1/4" socket head screws) for your application and you won't be disappointed. Do not use cables larger than the ones your monitor comes with. A #2 screwdriver and a #5 hex wrench can be used instead. In any case, it's easier to use a regular screwdriver.************************ *** ********* ************************************** ******* ** Advantages ****** ********************************** ******* ********** ****** *********0) Rugged construction - the only plastic is the underside of the cable management brackets The rest of the system is very strong Metal makes it easier to clean my desk when I need it. Living away from school, between eraser shavings and finger smudges I clean my desk almost daily. I also have a lot more room to work when I've got a book open lay and work on my homework. 2) The monitor no longer shakes when I hit the table. or go hard on the erase! Unless you have a solid wood desktop that weighs several hundred pounds, you probably know what I'm talking about. My desk is by no means light (an L-shaped table with a glass top and metal frame), but the wobble when washed is phenomenal. 3) Adjustable Hydraulic Force - This reduces the force required to lower lighter monitors and prevents them from bouncing back up and out of position. On the other hand, you can increase the force required to move heavier monitors, which eliminates hydraulic arm sag. leave heavier monitors in place (otherwise they will turn down). 5) Cable Management - Stop worrying about messy cables! All cables are routed to the mounting base. Please note that the white cable guides on the wall are not included in this kit. I bought that separately. 6) Easy to install - only 3 holes need to be drilled and no bolts with the right anchors are needed. (Read more in the Cons section). ***************************************************** * **************************** Minuses************ **** ***** **************************************************** *** **********0) I deduct most of the 1 stars for the fastening material. The supplied anchors are for mortar/concrete. As such, it doesn't work well with drywall. At first I used what came in the kit but noticed that the mount sags after a while (it was never very tight to the wall to begin with). I ran to the local hardware store and bought some screws (you can find them under Cavity Wall Mount where you can find screws and all) and within minutes I had the system properly installed again. Virtually any hollow wall mount will do, but lever bolts are easy to remove, cheap, and have one of the highest load ratings. I highly recommend replacing the wall anchors with the correct type, or just use a stud if you can. If you replace the anchors, most likely they will come with screws. Use the bolts that came with the new anchors, but use the washers that came with the kit. not a single star is lost on this piece. Considering the price, I'm not expecting telescopic arms or other fancy things that would allow the mount to be placed without considering horizontality. Please note, however, that the bracket must be placed very precisely, otherwise your monitors will have a horizontal offset that can only be compensated for by positioning it vertically or closer. 2) The cable ducts could be a bit more spacious - a small part of the star is lost here. They work well enough for two standard-sized cables (usually power and HDMI/DP), but if your monitor has a USB pass-through cable, you'll need to do a little work to get it to fit. If you're running larger gauge aftermarket cables (generally longer cables), you're in for a fight. I tried 15ft cables first: a 14 gauge power cable and a fairly thick DP cable. I attached them, but the cables were very stiff and kept popping out of the monitor when I moved it, causing the desktop to change size and position each time. I could barely get by (due to the cable length) with 10 foot cables, which fortunately are standard gauge, so I don't have that problem now. 3) There is no place to store the tuning tool - a small remnant of the star is lost here. While it's just a standard combination of a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a 5mm allen wrench that I could swap out with the tools I already have, it would be cumbersome to swap out this tool if I didn't already have alternatives. Once you've made adjustments, you generally don't need to use the tool again unless you switch monitors. So it's not such a big deal, but it would be nice if there was storage somewhere on the mount for this little guy. Most people will probably toss this in the box with the other random tools they got from so many other pieces of furniture and end up forgetting what it was for and maybe not knowing what tools can be used to replace it , if it is lost. As you can see in the photos I used velcro to attach it to one of the sleeves.*************************** * ***** **** ************************************ Summary*** ***** **** ***************************************** **** ********** ********* **** As I said above, this mount is awesome. While there are some minor glitches with the system, none of them break the deal or detract from the experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone, but be sure to replace the supplied concrete anchors with suitable drywall anchors!

Cons
