We bought these lights for extra lighting under our cupboards in the kitchen. We prepared the surface, fixed the strips and turned off the light, but the adhesion did not remain. I ended up buying 3M "mounting tape" (basically double-sided sticky backing of the command strip) to try to salvage them. Thanks to the added adhesion, most strands stay in place - there are still areas that try to detach. It can be difficult to navigate the corners during assembly. Also, the colors are great. You can tweak certain color options that we're anticipating for different holidays - for example, we have the lights that alternate between purple and orange for a Halloween feel. We love the atmosphere he has added to our kitchen. We were able to easily pair the backlight with our Google Home, so turning it on and off or changing colors was a breeze.
