The vendor probably means that these chemicals can "bleach," such as whiten the inside of the toilet bowl, but there's no actual bleach in their ingredients. I wanted real bleach because I prefer to use products that I've used before and understand. I need to investigate the safety of two chemicals in this product. I understand bleach is bad for the environment, but it's possible the chemicals in these pills are even worse. So if that's important to you, do your own research. In terms of efficiency, I haven't seen any magic in my toilet. It just smells like bleach with a slightly different smell and the pill just sits in my tank doing nothing spectacular.
