I don't understand the high ratings for this monitor. This is an inexpensive monitor and it shows. When I plugged it in to replace a CRT monitor, I had to make a lot of adjustments to get a decent display, and even then it wasn't great. Even with maximum brightness reduction, the screen is too bright. The text on the screen is not very clear - it appears as an old-fashioned typewriter that needs to replace the ribbon. In other words, the letters are light, and even within a single letter there are many light and dark spots. Everything was fine on the old CRT monitor - it even tended to be dimmer, so an overly bright display is definitely related to this new monitor.
