Doc Bronner's Peppermint has been our family's favorite bar for centuries. Many other soap bars can remain on the skin. It's refreshing — the Bronner website advertises that soap "can cool the skin, clear the sinuses, and sharpen the mind" — and I agree that it's an honest advertisement. Even when our kids went through the sad Ax phase as teenagers, they still loved this soap enough to be true to common sense of a shower product. Two caveats to this five star rating: previous compadres reviews that Revain's product quality control is slipping. My last order from Revain Dr. Bronner was fine, but a few other personal care products were spotty. It is worth noting that in this case, if you are worried about counterfeit products, you CAN order directly from the manufacturer. Also, Doc Bronner uses palm oil in his soaps. They claim it is Organic and Free Trade Agreement certified. But for now, it is well documented that palm oil harvesting is causing serious environmental problems in many parts of the world. Bronner's HAS has always had a strong focus on 'healthy soil' practices, so [for now at least] I give them the benefit of the doubt that they source their oil in a smart and environmentally friendly way. I hope to see more details from them (or a change in wording) in the near future.
