Review on 🐠 Tetra Whisper Air Pump for Aquariums - Powerful, Quiet Airflow for Enhanced Aquarium Experience by Jill Bennett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

20-40 gallons are the quietest!

I am a fish/shrimp farmer and have about 5 of these pumps in different sizes. After years of working with them, I've found this. 10-30 gallons (2 stars) sounded like a tattoo machine after an hour so I returned it. 20-40 gallons (5 stars) these are my favorites. super quiet. I'm sensitive to low-level buzzing in my house and you hardly notice they're working. 30-60 gallon (3 stars) workhorse but also a bit noisy. The noise level is around 10-30 gallons. 10-30 gallons tested at 68db at 1 inch 20-40 gallons tested at 62db at 1 inch 30-60 gallons tested at 69db at 1 inch same volume as the larger but they are what they eat. If the noise ratings make you hesitant to choose, trust me 20-40 is the way to go. I have two and both are pretty quiet. If you're using in a dedicated fish room, or growing in a garage, etc., a 30-60 pump probably won't bother you. But for anyone who uses a pump at home or in the office, I recommend 20-40. I thought mine might just be quiet, but they both sound the same to me. Even if you are using it in a smaller aquarium, just take 20-40 and adjust it with the adjustable valve that comes with the kit. If you've tried a 10-30 pump and didn't like them because of the noise, try a 20-40 before you convince yourself they're all loud. Hope that helps!
