This grip works great with A7RII. Since I'm using a large Sony 28-135mm f/4 lens, the grip allows me to hold the camera securely. It contains two batteries, one of which is replaced in the camera, giving you twice the battery capacity. Its two batteries are housed in a small drawer and it initially consumes an external battery. This way you can replace just that battery without having to pull out the tray. When switching between using the grip and the camera separately, the battery cover on the camera must be removed and attached to the stand on the grip. There's a small lever and release button on the battery door that make this pretty quick and easy once you get the hang of it.
