I mainly shoot with the Sony A7sII and my setup is based on the Movcam cage and rail system. This is without a doubt the best budget matte box I have ever used. It feels solid - it's mostly metal and some premium plastics in places. The matte box slides smoothly right over my rig's 15mm rods. I also have a FOTGA DP3000 M3 Matte Box which was fine for a cheap unit but didn't work that well with my Movcam A7s setup (the slider setting didn't go low enough to evenly line up my lenses). Not only is this box MILES better than the 3000 M3, the DP500 Mark III is a PERFECT match for my Sony A7sII and Movcam Cage & Rail System. You will feel the difference in quality just by holding it in your hands. I should have bought the DP500 first, but at least I can use the 3000 M3 with my B-chamber, I also bought this device especially for 4x4 filter trays. I use the excellent Light Craft Workshop 4x4 Variable ND filters, which are fairly thick sheets of glass. This is the first budget matte box that has the shells properly fitted to my ND glass. Are there any disadvantages of this matte box? We're about to enter nitpicking territory. Speaking of filter cartridges, I wish they were aluminum like the rest of the matte box. Instead, they are made of seemingly really high-quality plastic. Don't get me wrong - they're extremely durable and I'm confident they'll perform well over the long term, but the packaging would be near perfect if it was made out of some sort of lightweight metal. Also, when you put the filter cartridges in, they don't stop much, so make sure they're screwed on tight! There's minimal friction holding them in place, but the trays could potentially fall through the floor if they don't stay bolted, breaking any glass filters you might be using on the floor. These are really just nitpicks and honestly nothing detracts from how awesome and functional this matte box actually is. They practice the best customer service I have ever dealt with. And did I mention how sexy this matte box feels on my rig? This is carbon fiber. mmmmmm. If you have any doubts about choosing this box, do not hesitate. GET ONE.
