Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great Windows 10 tablet, poor quality control

I've had this tablet for about 3 weeks now. I will only list the important things that I have not mentioned in other reviews. At 0% brightness, the screen has a noticeable flickering. Because of this, it's very annoying to use at night when I'm sleeping and don't want to disturb my wife. It flickers even with adaptive brightness disabled and all power saving options. There are subtle but noticeable dark spots on the screen on the left. It's mostly noticeable when the screen is white, meaning it's noticeable when you're browsing the web with a mostly white background. To be honest the screen renders good colors and can be very bright at higher brightness levels, but I usually keep it around 50% or less as the battery life is terrible at anything brighter. With the screen set to 50%, I get about 6 hours of battery life. The speakers emit a random popping noise when not in use. Even if my sound is muted. Sometimes I'm surfing the internet and I hear a loud bang. I tried reinstalling the drivers but the problem persists. It doesn't seem to affect speaker performance, so I'm not overly concerned, but it's a little annoying. Sometimes the Matebook refuses to wake up even though the battery is fully charged. I have to hard reset it every time this happens. This usually happens 2-3 times a week. I bought a keyboard case for it and it works quite well. Entering this rating is easy and not too cumbersome. Unfortunately the Matepen appears to have been discontinued at the time of this writing, but I have purchased a Bamboo Ink pen which is Matebook compatible. I received a recommendation from another Revain reviewer. Overall, I really enjoy using this tablet, especially because of its affordable price. But the problems I listed above make me want to return or exchange it. EDIT 3/24/18: I ended up sending the first one back to have it replaced. The second Matebook I received had a fine screen, but the touchscreen was defective. It registered accidental clicks and scrolled by itself. I'll swap it again, hopefully the third time it'll be a charm. EDIT: 04/15/18: A third tablet arrived and had the same dark spot as the first tablet. I sent it back on the 4th. After a month and a half I finally have the perfect Matebook! I'm keeping the 3 star rating because while it's a really good product, it has a lot of manufacturing inconsistencies.

  • Easy to use
Cons
