Good product, not disappointed.

I've used Windows all my life and was 100% happy with my 14" redmibook with 8 core ryzen 4700u and 2TB SSD. In this review, I mainly compare with him. I didn’t even think about switching to a poppy until I changed my job, where I need to develop for iOS and I can’t do without a poppy. At a new job, they bought me this macbook and for the first time I encountered macos. I thought that Macos differs from Windows no more than most Linux distributions, but everything turned out to be different. Different keyboard layout, different scrolling direction, different hotkeys. I did not expect that Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V might not work somewhere, and in order to get something more familiar, I would have to install a bunch of utilities. In addition, when I began to connect external devices, they became terribly buggy. The wireless mouse started to fall off, the monitor flickered 5 times more than it did before. The replacement with other devices that I had in stock helped. But the font on the external monitor is blurred, apparently you will have to buy a new monitor with a higher resolution. But the device is really cool and its survivability and performance is amazing thanks to the M1 processor. And Rosetta works wonders - games for Intel-Macs fly! I'm still trying to figure out if I can completely switch from my last laptop to a macbook. But I'm afraid that for now I still have to use two computers, which is not very convenient. Hopefully Windows 11 comes out with M1 Mac support and faster x86 emulation on ARM. If I bought a poppy for my money, I would most likely take Air 16/256 + external SSD KingSpec Z3 2 TB. The price of the latter is the same as the price of an additional 256 GB in Macs.

Pros
  • Ability to develop for iOS Powerful CPU and integrated graphics Incredible autonomy High quality and loud speakers Quiet, fan only turns on when playing games Fingerprint's scanner Availability of a webcam Bright screen Build quality
Cons
  • You can not install Windows natively (at the time of writing this review) No sub-pixel anti-aliasing on Mac OS, causing text to appear soapy on an external FullHD monitor Unreasonable markup on the amount of SSD (but I did not pay it) Few ports Large display bezels and weight - my old laptop is smaller, lighter with a larger diagonal Limited choice of games due to the lack of Windows, despite the fact that the graphics are very powerful Support for only one external monitor HDMI audio volume cannot be adjusted Noise in 3.5mm audio jack Slow WiFi 2.4 GHz - channel width is only 20 MHz, while most laptops give 40 MHz Glossy screen - fingerprints are highly visible
