Great alternative to a traditional DSLR

My first Fujifilm camera was the X100T which I bought and ended up returning last year. I loved the camera. It was light and small and I was so pleased with the sound and quality of the photos I took with it. But. this price. What if I want a different lens? I wanted something cheaper and be able to change lenses in the future. So I came to X-E2. Most current Fujifilm X-series cameras share the same X-Trans CMOS II sensor, so under the same circumstances the images should be the same. However, I didn't buy it with a complete lens. I chose only the body and pancake Fuji 27mm. The lens deserves a separate review, so that only applies to the camera itself. The Fujifilm X-E2 is a great camera for those who love DSLRs and for those who like compact cameras. You can set everything to automatic, or record in priority mode, or fully in manual mode. It has a quick setup menu (Q menu) for selecting shooting modes, almost every button can be set to every available function, film simulation, ISO and so on. There's a drive menu for bracketing, advanced film modes (e.g. toy camera, black and white or black and white with green, blue, red or magenta isolation, etc.), burst mode (7 fps) and other settings. Above you can see the exposure compensation dial, the shutter speed dial and another dial used to control the aperture when using a lens without an aperture ring. I only shot in high-performance mode, so that's all I can talk about. The autofocus is really fast with a claimed time of 0.08 seconds. It was enough for me to do street photography in New York. The processor is also quite fast. I shot in RAW+JPEG (high quality), RAW and JPEG (high quality) and didn't notice any major lag after shooting. The electronic viewfinder takes some getting used to if you've used optical viewfinders. You look through the viewfinder at a tiny screen. This is great for manual focus as you see a magnified image of what you are focusing on. In fact, I liked it better than the X100T hybrid viewfinder's focus-tip illumination, which outlined the area of focus, and the digital framing, which shows a tiny image of the subject in the frame. But for me it was still a bit strange to look into the viewfinder and see a bright screen (yes, the brightness is adjustable). If you're shooting in low light in manual mode, you'll need to turn off "manual exposure preview" in the menu. If you don't, you're looking into a dark viewfinder. I didn't know this at first and had to research on the internet how to look through the viewfinder when shooting in low light. Build quality isn't as good as the X100T. The metal top and bottom look more like plastic. In general, it seems less durable. Keep in mind, however, that the X100 series starts at $1,000, so something cheaper naturally feels less premium. In any case, most DSLRs are made of plastic. I think I was just spoiled by my experience. The grip was comfortable for me, but I'm a 5'10" skinny guy, so I think people with big or fat hands might feel some discomfort otherwise. The LCD screen is really good. Not as good as the newest one High end smartphone but way better than most digital camera displays I've seen You can get a very good idea of how your photos will look on your computer Overall the X-E2 is a great camera for Pros, given the excellent camera sensor and manual controls, and the excellent lenses from Fuji (I've read the kit lens is ok too.) Make room in your camera bag.I'm not a pro, but I did during college professional cameras and this camera definitely competes well. For those of you who just want a good camera for travelling, partying or documenting your child's life you can't go wrong. It's lighter and frankly looks nick-er than a chunky DSLR. With a camera this light, it becomes easier to wear the X-E2 around your neck while you spend hours strolling through a theme park or maneuvering your way through a sea of parents at a prom or concert. from camera**
