Pros: Versatile - strap around tires or axle, my truck has a brace on the front axle making it difficult to attach directly to the axle. Large Tires - My SUV has 37 x 12.5 Hummer tires, these belts worked well even though the D-ring was only about 6 feet away. Dirt Roads - This trailer rarely has working headlights as it is driven so often on bumpy dirt roads. . Tighten these straps like you really care about the vehicle you're towing and they won't come loose on rough roads. Cons: Patchy - Tire strapping feels a bit patchy as the tape could theoretically slip over the top, use your muscles. and tighten the strap. Use your best judgment as to whether or not it will hold up. My SUV has low tire pressure, the tires deviate from the belt, which helps keep the belt in place. Difficult to use - I haven't found a better one but like other ratchets they can get tangled and difficult to disengage. If you can't use the ratchet, you probably shouldn't be towing your car. Short straps - these work but can be longer. For larger tires, make sure the mounting points are close to the tire. I would not be able to cross the straps or run those straps to the back of my trailer with my tires.
