This was my first attempt at corking and using this little red portuguese soil sampler made it super easy and almost fun! Cork will definitely last a lifetime unless I fall on it or get run over with my jeep. A nut brings everything together. Easy. Putting a cork in a bottle (and I've used larger #9 corks which were DRY) is easy with this capper. It simply inserts them into the bottle when you press the handle. If I ever felt resistance, all I would do was "shake" the handle a little and the cork would slide right in. For someone capping 5-100 bottles at a time, I don't think you can go wrong with this capper. Of course, this isn't a commercial car, but for a serious hobby it should be great. It's the professionals that come to mind. Now here are the two cons that I noticed regarding this cork. Both can be overcome and it's really nothing to worry about. The first is a nut that attaches the small cross-legged frame to the main frame. It's just a nut. I've read in some other descriptions of similar connectors where they had a wing nut to attach the sacrum frame which meant no tools were required for assembly. Since it is a nut, you will need a ratchet/socket or wrench to tighten the nut. You can't tighten it enough with your fingers. I can take the nut to Lowes or HD and combine it with a wing nut. Then no more tools are needed. Bottle. The nut tends to move freely and will move from where you installed it. In my case, this resulted in a few plugs being set deeper than I wanted. I caught and reconfigured it pretty quickly. Before capping the new bottles (I need to make more wine first!), I'm going to wrap the threads of the plunger in Teflon tape so the nut doesn't move as freely as it does now. It's still adjustable, but shouldn't move on its own once the tape is in place. I think I could take the sprocket off the mounting nut and depth gauge nut but they don't really fit. Crusher or the reason why this capper can't put corks in bottles. This works very well and you can easily use #9 corks. I know I will never regret this purchase and am glad I bought it early in my winemaking journey.
