Review on Streamline Butter Usage with KitchenArt 32000 ButterMate: White Plastic by Josh Gerhardt

Incredible Perfection - Storage and Organization

It may seem like an overkill gadget, but it's actually great. If you need a thin stick of butter, this works better than a knife. I bought it because we buy butter from a local dairy and there are no labels at all on the packages so measuring was a guessing game. We've been using it for over a year and have only had a few issues. The issues we had weren't so much with the device as with the oil's interaction with it. For example, very cold oil has difficulty sliding forward. Butter at room temperature won't cut finely because a thin slice is connected to a stick. The only problem with the device itself, regardless of its interaction with the oil, is that it doesn't always click into place the first time you press it. However, 9 times out of 10 it snaps into place with one hand. No hinge or cable issues with almost daily use. ETA: star distance. Our original (see above) has worn out over time. Our second one broke pretty quickly based on the critical reviews here. We chose not to buy a third one even though we could have used it for the reasons above.
