Review on Manfrotto 026 Lite Tite Umbrella Adapter by Chris Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Essential but very good adapter

This Manfrotto umbrella rotation adapter connects your lamp stand to accessories such as an umbrella, wireless remote control or directly to a speedlite flash. It's a reliable and durable addition to your bag. Benefits* All strong, durable, solid materials used in construction* The main adjustment knob is on an external socket, which allows you to adjust it so that the knob is always pointed in a specific direction, e.g. down for deployment or up for storage* Kit includes brass bushings (bolts) with double male and double female threads (1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threads on both)* Fits almost all umbrellas or with the supplied fitting, can be adjusted to 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 units* With the addition of a second male bolt, can be used temporarily as a camera tripod (not designed for this, but it can save a few pounds that way for non-critical work) easily removable for more compact storage * The top and bottom screws will dig into your brass bushings and damage them, and if you handle them too eagerly they will break the hollow T umbrellas cases (workaround: dowels into the ends of the umbrella tubes stuck or buy umbrellas from a massive stick) your thoughts Despite the disadvantages, this is a great way to connect lighting components. Some improvements include cup-shaped captive screws with swivel ends (top and bottom); This will prevent the screw from entering your accessory and damaging it (or destroying the umbrella's hollow tubes). For a while, until I got used to the orientation of the umbrella base, I marked the normal side "inside" to avoid accidentally plugging the umbrella in upside down. Either way it works, but you need to know how to use your flash and what direction to point it in order to choose the best path.
