I ordered two of these for our grandchildren who love the great outdoors. They are eight and nine years old and they love things like compasses and things for men. I had books brought to teach them how to use them and maps so they could learn where they were without a GPS with the help of their father. They should last a lifetime as they are very well built and lightweight. These are standard army compasses, so they'll hold just about anything, anywhere the boys can find for the "big adventure". Her father told me that they would be very happy to find her under the Christmas tree this year.
